PERFORMANCE AGING
What is Performance Aging?
Performance Aging is training for capability rather than appearance. You build strength, endurance, mobility and resilience so that you can do more at 60 than you could at 45. Health and lifespan are the side effects. Capability is the target.

Can you get stronger after 60?
Yes. Resistance training builds strength and muscle at every age that has been studied, including in people well past 80. Progress is slower to arrive and needs more recovery than it did at 30, but the direction is the same: load the muscle, add a little each week, eat enough protein.

How many days a week should a 50 year old lift weights?
Three days a week is right for most people at 50. Two full body sessions will maintain and slowly build, three is the sweet spot for real progress, and four or more only pays off if sleep, protein and stress are already handled.

What is the best strength training program for perimenopause?
The best program in perimenopause is progressive heavy strength two to three times a week, plus power work, plus enough protein, plus real aerobic training. What does not work is more high intensity classes and less food, which is exactly what most people add during this window.

Is Hyrox worth it after 50?
Hyrox is worth it after 50 if you want a deadline that forces you to train running and strength together, and if the preparation makes you more capable rather than more broken. It is not worth it if you are chasing the race at the cost of the training that keeps you healthy.

How do I train for Hyrox as a beginner over 40?
Give yourself twelve to sixteen weeks. Run three times a week with most of it easy, lift twice, and add one session per week where you run immediately after a station so your legs learn what compromised running feels like. Practice the sled and the wall balls specifically, because those two decide most first races.

What is the difference between hybrid training and CrossFit?
Hybrid training runs strength and endurance as two structured, progressive tracks that intersect in specific sessions. CrossFit blends strength, gymnastics and conditioning into constantly varied high intensity workouts. Hybrid is more predictable and easier to recover from. CrossFit is more varied and more skill-heavy.

How do you improve VO2 max after 40?
Build mostly easy aerobic volume, then add one hard interval session per week using three to five minute efforts at a pace you could hold for about ten minutes. That combination raises VO2 max at any age. What stalls people after 40 is doing everything at medium intensity.
